SAS crack team kill 30 Taliban in night-time desert firefight

The soldiers were sent in after a Taliban attack on a fort in Helmand province manned by Afghan government forces British special forces troops killed around 30 Afghan Taliban fighters in a night-time desert battle. A US pilotless drone aircraft spotted the attackers and fired missiles at their convoy of trucks, blowing up two. The survivors fled into the desert and the SAS were quickly flown in to hunt them down. They set up an ambush and after the rebel fighters opened fire, a battle raged through the night. One SAS man survived a “quick-draw” shoot-out when he stumbled across a Taliban fighter. He pulled his gun and shot the rebel dead as a bullet from an AK47 hit him in the chest. His body armour stopped it and saved his life. The battle last Wednesday in Helmand province was one of the most successful by special forces in recent years. And it came as 80 troops from the 4th Battalion, The Rifles were also sent into Sangin province to take on insurgents. Read more HERE

British Government set to give overseas aid to the Taliban.

 Where you shocked by my Blog headline? seems crazy doesn't it, well they are not funding the Taliban yet at least not directly, the UK does its bit for the Jihad in Afghanistan by sending hundreds of UK borne Jihadists to the Country to fight British and ISAF troops.Sadly the UK is the hub of terrorist activity due to its non existent border controls and its huge Foreign ghettos, which could easily be mistaken for a middle eastern Country.Now we have the crackpot William Hague who wants to arm the Syrian Rebels ,  funny how he calls them rebels and freedom fighters, when they are the same type of Islamist killers like Al Queada. Oh yeah and just to round it off the British tax payers money is going to pay the families of Suicide Bombers  Maybe they should fund the IRA as well? Oh I forgot they got that bunch to run Northern Ireland.

Prince Harry: I killed Taliban insurgents

Prince Harry has confirmed he killed Taliban insurgents during his latest tour of Afghanistan.

British Soldier Shot Dead In Afghanistan

A British soldier has been shot dead by a man wearing an Afghan army uniform, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

The soldier from 28 Engineer Regiment, attached to 21 Engineer Regiment, was killed at Patrol Base Hazrat in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province on Monday evening.

Major Martyn Crighton, a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf), told Sky News the soldier died after "an individual wearing an Afghan National Army uniform turned his weapon against both Afghan National Army soldiers and Isaf troops".

He added: "During the engagement the attacker was killed and there were some other folks who were wounded. They were subsequently taken to an Isaf medical facility to be treated. Read more  HERE

Afghanistan release 250 Taliban militants from jails and put our troops at more risk.

The Afghan government released 80 Taliban militants from Pul-e-Charkhi prison in eastern part of capital Kabul. According to officials around 67 of the freed Taliban militants were arrested by US troops in connection to insurgency activities against the Afghan government and were previously kept in Bagram prison which was recently handed over to Afghan security forces.  This just shows how terrified the Afghan Government are of the Taliban and the eventual withdrawal of ISAF forces, will Afghanistan be a safer place when we are gone or a breeding ground for more off shoots of Al Qaeda?

Suicide bombers attack joint U.S.-Afghan air base

Taliban suicide bombers assaulted a joint U.S.-Afghan air base in eastern Afghanistan early Sunday, detonating explosives at the gate and sparking a gun battle that lasted at least two hours with American helicopters firing down at militants before the attackers were defeated.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the attackers detonated a car bomb at the entrance of Jalalabad air base before storming it. A spokesman for the Afghan Defense Ministry, Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, confirmed that car bombs were used at the gate but said none of the militants were able to enter. The NATO military coalition also described it as a failed attack.
"We can confirm insurgents, including multiple suicide bombers, attacked Jalalabad Airfield this morning. None of the attackers succeeded in breaching the perimeter," Lt. Col. Hagen Messer, a spokesman for the international military coalition, said in an email.
He said that the fighting had ended by mid morning and that reports showed one member of the Afghan security forces was killed. Several foreign troops were wounded, but Messer did not give any numbers or details. Read more HERE

Its practically impossible to defend anywhere successfully against people who are willing to kill themselves, but it doesn't stop us supporting our troops who are doing their best to stabilize  unstable hell hole against combatants who sacrifice their own lives for there cause. The Taliban know that all they have to do is play a  waiting game as public opinion will not allow our forces to be in Afghanistan indeterminately.

Mastiff protects soldiers from roadside explosion in Helmand

A group of soldiers serving with 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment in Afghanistan escaped completely unharmed after the armoured vehicle they were travelling in was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) in August.
Sergeant Barry Quinn, who hails from Burnley, was driving the Mastiff  armoured transport vehicle carrying a group of soldiers when a roadside bomb, laid by insurgents trying to disrupt the work of the International Security Assistance Force, exploded. The heavily armoured Mastiff withstood the blast, protecting all its passengers, and was then able to continue on its journey without any further delay Sgt Quinn's role as a Mastiff Group Commander means he has a team of ten men and two to three Mastiffs to command in Helmand province. He said:


"I was going to pick up some people when my vehicle was hit. Initially I thought it was the rear of the vehicle as there was a cloud of dust. I went back to check on the guys and found another IED, which we marked to be dealt with later. Everyone was OK and the vehicle was still able to move, it just had a couple of popped tyres."




Sgt Quinn, who joined the Army as a 16-year-old, wasn't surprised about the Mastiff's ability to shield its passengers from danger:
