Para quits over troop treatment.

A WAR hero Para chief is quitting the Army in disgust over the “appalling” and “shoddy” treatment of troops, it was revealed yesterday.
Lt Col Stuart Tootal, 42, commanding officer of 3 Para, penned a bombshell resignation letter spelling out his reasons for quitting his £70,000-a-year post.
The OBE officer, hotly-tipped to one day head the Army, highlighted:
Soldiers’ POOR PAY,
A lack of training
EQUIPMENT;
Appalling Army HOUSING;
Shoddy TREATMENT by the health service.

(RG) This isn’t just some young soldier who is pissed off at being put on guard in stead of going out on the piss, these are the words of an experienced British Officer. Myself and many other military bloggers have been saying the same thing for a few years now. I doubt if you can really call the British army an Army anymore it is more of a militia like the Royal Navy being a costal defence force. I was talking to some regular soldiers in the Falklands while I was there and I can tell you that their moral was at rock bottom, many of them were leaving the army and who can blame them? As soon as they get back from one deployment they are off within a few months to another hot spot. I personally believe we are at a crisis point in the British Armed Forces. I would imagine ministers are secretly contemplating National Service. A panic measure that would not work in the UK today. Most young men would just throw their brown envelope in the bin. Many young Muslim men would not consider it as they think of the British Armed Forces as the enemy due to our occupation of Iraq & Afghanistan. Perhaps Brown should do what Lincoln did during the American civil War give every illegal immigrant or migrant a passport and a rifle them send them to Afghanistan? One event I did not attend during the Pilgrimage was a reception at the Governors House. We were told we (Veterans) had to attend by the back entrance, whilst Derek Twigg who’s Labour Government would have given the Falkland Islands back to Argentina could enter through the front. I will not break bread with the Traitors of the UK. Extreme times call for extreme measures , military coup anyone?

Veterans round the back
Traitors in the front
To bow and scrape to the Governor
Political bullshit stunt
Stick your airs and graces
Shove your Etiquette
Meet you in Valhalla Mickey
Ubique No regrets.

  2. The Br*tish establishment has traded for three hundred years on the English propensity to 'get on with it' and 'grin and bear it' while putting up with no end of shit and bullshit, but we've had enough and 'they' are beginning to realise that we're no longer prepared to play the game.

    Whether one calls it a coup or a revolution, there is trouble ahead.

    Br*tain is finished.

  3. Itis a very worrying time when one of the brass puts his head up over the parapit and makes that form of public statement. To the top brass and those with the power to change things itis almost like treason.
    Stuart Tootal is a brave man to come forward with his views, he is not the first and it is another sign of the problems this country face yet the politicians fail to want to be seen to be positive. But then it is not their arses on the line. This is yet another example of why so many people are choosing to move abroad.

    Great post RG.
