US Army to make REAL 'Iron Man' armour suit that gives troops superhuman strength

Tactical assault light operator suit (talos) that heals wounds and is also bulletproof, could be available for soldiers by 2016, claim military bosses. US Army chiefs are developing an Iron Man-style suit to give troops 'superhuman strength'.

When made, the tactical assault light operator suit (talos) is set to be bulletproof and give the wearer enhanced strength.

Scientists want the suit to incorporate some kind of weapon along with a display giving information about the soldier's surroundings and vital signs.

Last but not least, the suit should be able to heal wounds by temporarily stopping bleeding.

Lt Col Karl Borjes, a science adviser at the US Army's research, development and engineering command described the technology as a 'combat armour suit'.

He said: "The requirement is a comprehensive family of systems in a combat armour suit where we bring together an exoskeleton with innovative armour, displays for power monitoring, health monitoring, and integrating a weapon into that."  Read More HERE

US Army Rejects Tanks, Congress Insists

Built to dominate the enemy in combat, the Army's hulking Abrams tank is proving equally hard to beat in a budget battle.

Lawmakers from both parties have devoted nearly half a billion dollars in taxpayer money over the past two years to build improved versions of the 70-ton Abrams.

But senior Army officials have said repeatedly, "No thanks."

It's the inverse of the federal budget world these days, in which automatic spending cuts are leaving sought-after pet programs struggling or unpaid altogether. Republicans and Democrats for years have fought so bitterly that lawmaking in Washington ground to a near-halt, reports The Associated Press.

Yet in the case of the Abrams tank, there's a bipartisan push to spend an extra $436 million on a weapon the experts explicitly say is not needed.

"If we had our choice, we would use that money in a different way," Gen. Ray Odierno, the Army's chief of staff, told The Associated Press this past week.

Why are the tank dollars still flowing? Politics.

This is amazing, government wanting to build more tanks but the military saying `no thanks`, its the complete opposite of what is happening in the UK, we see cuts cuts cuts, with some so called experts even doubting whether tanks are necessary in modern Warfare, I say ask the Iraqi Republican guard what they think of Abraham's and Challengers? Oh you cant they are all dead!

How Blogging can cost you your job in the US Military

On August 9, 2010, Jet Blue Airways Flight 1052 from Pittsburgh landed at New York's JFK International Airport. Following an altercation with a passenger who refused to remain seated until the aircraft reached the gate, 38-year-old flight attendant Steven Slater announced over the public address system that he was quitting his job. "To the passenger who just called me a mother******, f*** you," he proclaimed, according to another passenger. "I've been in this business 20 years and I've had it." He then opened the emergency exit door, activated the inflatable chute, grabbed two beers from the galley, and slid down to the tarmac. He was soon arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and trespassing. The incident caused a sensation, with Slater becoming an overnight hero to millions around the world who know what it means to be fed up with one's job and would love to enact "Take This Job and Shove It" in a big, splashy way.Fifteen days later, Lawrence Sellin, PhD, a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve serving his second deployment to Afghanistan, pulled his own version of Slater's getaway. In a UPI op-ed posted from Kabul titled "Outside View: PowerPoints 'R' Us," Col. Sellin began: "Throughout my career I have been known to walk that fine line between good taste and unemployment. Within 12 hours of the Colonel posting this on  his Blog he was sent for and fired. At least he didn't wait until he retired and wrote his book.
