My award for ignorant attack of the day goes to....

(RG)I have just been checking my stats when I came across a military web site that has been discussing my Blog.
Here

I think they should have actually taken the time to look at my site before casting aspersions with comments like

I'm with Jim on this one....the Name "Rogue Gunner" about sums it up.
Another dis-satisfied squaddie hiding behind an anonymous name.
If he is so concerned then why not stand up and be counted?
As they say on family fortunes.....eeeee...awwww

yours aye
Dick

Well I guess his name says it all really. As readers will know the Blog is called Rogue Gunner and I Tony McNally am not hiding behind anything, my name is clearly posted on my profile on my side bar and my book. I am sure that as soon as the Scots gentlemen saw my St Georges cross flag that was enough to basically call me a RACIST and a COWARD that hides behind an `anonymous name` They have every right to comment as they see fit but surely its best to get your facts right?I can say the same about not liking someone’s politics when last year at the Union Jack club a Falklands veteran and `Scots` guard said when Margaret Thatcher entered the room “I hate the f***** old C*** I will never forgive the Tory bitch for what she did to the miners.” well we are all entitled to our opinions, is that not right Dick? As they say 'Nobody provokes me with impunity'.

  2. I've just had a look. What a load of bloody hypocrites! They criticise you for having comment moderation, and they have BLOCKED ANY comments on the article. They know your name so that criticism is hogwash. And they talk about racism - between us Brits! How sad. One actually said, "I have NEVER allowed anybody to call me Jock." Why? Strikes me they have some sort of complex. Poor things. Leave them alone to wallow in it.

  3. Yeah and they accused me of calling that Socialist piece of scum McTwat which is also wrong, I can think of much worse to call that creature. I suppose you have to expect criticism but they were purley and simply WRONG. It gave them something to chat about until Big Brother proscribed the subject.

    Thanks Dickiebo.

  4. Tony,

Their thread does them little credit. I'm as proud to be a Jock (see I said it) as you are to be English, but as Dickie says these guys have a whole tattie on their shoulders and need to get over it.

    Clearly they ain't regular readers.

  5. Tony (yes I know your name because it is on your blog) take no notice of these halfwits. If they are having trouble working out how to read your name are they worth the effort?

  9. These thick Jocks are an insult to my Glaswegian grandfather, my cousin who was severely wounded at Monte Casino serving with the Black Watch, the Borderer's we chaperoned on their first deployment to Belfast, all my friends and family who live in Jockland and have to rub shoulders with ignorance and bigotry.

  10. Thanks Guys,
I have nothing against the Scots, the Welsh the Irish (Look at my name) I could quite easily accuse someone of calling me McTwat. I have made as most do in the army the best friends I will ever make and some of them are Scots and I did call them `Jock` and they never once accused me of anything, same goes for the Welsh and `Taff` that’s what makes the British army great, when we start pointing the finger at each other for saying , Jock, or Taff or even Scouse or Geordie the British army is finished. If you don’t like a Blog then move on like I do on many occasions, well I suppose I wont be getting any Christmas cards from the Royal Regiment Of Scotland, but then a lot of men have passed through their ranks and I don’t tar these same proud `Jocks` with the brush of a few bigoted and left wing leaning individuals who may or may not have even served in the British Army.

  11. You know Tony it saddens me that these former soldiers could write what they have. Do they have any idea of who and what you really are. If they could have seen us sailing proudly back from the Falklands with the Scots Guards all of us hugging and shaking hands that we had made it back, but sad for those who didn’t. We stood proud listening to the pipes all of us, all proud soldiers together.
Please don’t let these few ignorant people represent the proud Scottish people.
    Jock

  12. Thanks for that, `Jock` one of my best friends was on Tumbledown (Left flank) and we both grew up together, I met him on the Norland on the way back and we drank with the 2nd Battalion all the way back to Ascension island, those men are not just Scots or even soldiers , they are my `Brothers in Arms`

    Aye

    Mack.

  14. Good morning and seasons greetings, I received a Google alert that brought me to your Blog Tony, because you posted the words (Royal Anglian) have enjoyed a couple of hours of reading it!
I am 60 years old, still have a type B commission now with RFCA 42 Bde, having joined the BRITISH Army at 16 years old.
Strangely the English allow the Scots to run the British Parliament, Prime Minister, Chancellor, Speaker of the House and most of the senior Ministers are Scots but apparently there is not a single English member of the Scottish Parliament, (you know the one that was budgeted at £38 million but went way over budget costing the British tax payer £480 million). yes more than 10 times the amount.
This Government have brought the Banking sector to it’s knee’s, (mostly run by Scots)
and their KGB Regulator (the FSA) are not accountable under English law.
Northern Command used to be run out of Catterick, now run out of Scotland (including 42 Bde which Cumbria and the NW fall under).
I have made many great military friends from all over Britain, from Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders In Aden in 1967 to recent association with the Irish guards, I am a Yorkshire man who served with a southern Regt, 3 Royal Anglian (the Pompadours) Essex Beds and Herts, Never in all my years have I come across this sort of bigotry from any Ex soldier. The comments from these Scots are utter rubbish, take no notice.
PS. I now live about 55 miles due west of you, in Laxey on the IOM.
