Basra troops hit the road for charity

A group of military personnel based at the Contingency Operating Base (COB) in Basra, southern Iraq, are running, rowing and cycling the equivalent distance from their home unit in Germany to Basra to raise vital funds for charity.
Team Lamassu, who are based at Herford, the home of 1 (UK) Armoured Division, consists of 20 volunteers from across the Basra base including members of the Australian and American contingents stationed there. Over the course of the Islamic month of Ramadan (between 13 September - 12 October 2007) each member of the team is expected to run, row or cycle over 6 kilometres a day in the searing desert heat.
