Argentina's military threat raises fears over Falklands

Argentina raised the prospect of posting military forces in the Antarctic region yesterday, with the announcement of plans to use troops to defend its interests.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner told defence chiefs that Argentina must be prepared to assert its sovereignty and protect its natural resources, as nations compete to claim areas of the region believed to be rich in oil.

(RG) Well we better get HMS White Elephant ready. If Gordon Brown puts a tax on the air we breathe he may be able to fill her up with juice? I would normally have said this Socialist Government couldn’t care less about the Falklands Islands (Which is true) but if the portly PM gets a whiff of oil he would use our nuclear deterrent on Cristina Fernándezs Argentina without hesitation. The big bag of Haggis would even drape himself in the Union Jack in his War on oil and lets be fair this is the Labour PM who even praised Mrs Thatcher (Yeah we really did believe him) With the mad Imadinner jacket turning the middle east in to a huge missile testing range there is no doubt we are heading for even higher fuel costs followed by yet another War against Iran.

  1. It's just BS, first she cosied up to the Chavez to play on anti-American Argentinian sentiment, now she's having a fit about "The Malvinas", the economy is going down the pan in Argentina and she's looking for a scapegoat that isn't her.

Someone should calmly, but very publically, tell her that if she goes anywhere near the Falklands with out explicite demorcratic authority from the islanders Buenos Aires is going to grow a mushroom cloud.

  2. Same shit, different day. The last war there was caused by dictators who were tryin' to distract their people from a lousy economy. Amazing how some things never change.
