War hero Clive Smith, who lost both legs below the knee in a bomb blast, is having to spend £90,000 to go to Australia for pioneering artificial limb surgery. A soldier blown up by an explosive device in Afghanistan has been forced to remortgage his home to pay for pioneering artificial limb surgery in Australia.
War hero Clive Smith is spending £90,000 flying 10,000 miles to Sydney for a operation which he hopes will transform his life.
He said he has been left with no choice because the NHS and the Ministry of Defence have betrayed him, despite pledges that injured veterans would get the best possible care.
Sapper Smith, who stepped on a landmine in Helmand Province in 2010, has been in a wheelchair for 12 months, waiting for new prosthetic limbs.Read more HERE

What is a Squaddie?

A Squaddie is someone who joins the forces for many reasons be they financial, emotional or following family tradition. 

Once a Squaddie takes the Queen's shilling; he becomes a member of an elite group of people. 

A Squaddie will suffer hardship both physically and mentally so his fellow countrymen don’t have to. 

Make a Squaddie your friend and he will be a friend forever, make ...him your enemy and he will never forget. 

To the general public a Squaddie is a cold-hearted, loud-mouthed thug in a uniform, but a Squaddie is actually, quite intelligent and has feelings and emotions like everybody else. 

Ask a Squaddie a serious question and he will answer truthfully to the best of his ability. 

A Squaddie lives life to the full because at any time he could be touched by death.

A Squaddie will take the mickey and make jokes about any other Squaddie, Regt or Corps he comes into contact with but, if these same Squaddies, Regt or Corps require his help he will give it a 110%. 

So to sum it up, a Squaddie is a loud-mouthed, arrogant, mickey taking, beer swilling, party loving fool but he is also a friend, mate, mucker, comrade and brother and...

Woolwich attack: terrorist proclaimed 'an eye for an eye' after attack
A British soldier has been butchered on a busy London street by two Islamist terrorists, one of whom proclaimed afterwards: “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”In the first terrorist murder on the British mainland since the 7/7 suicide bombings of 2005, the men attempted to behead the soldier, hacking at him like a “piece of meat” in front of dozens of witnesses, before both were shot by police who took around 20 minutes to arrive.
After the killing, one of the men, believed to be a British-born Muslim convert, spoke calmly into a witness’s video phone.Speaking with a London accent, holding a knife and a meat cleaver and with his hands dripping with blood, he said: “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. Your people will never be safe. The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day.“We must fight them as they fight us. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I apologise that women had to witness this today but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government, they don’t care about you. Do you think David Cameron is going to get caught in the street when we start busting our guns? Do you think your politicians are going to die?“No, it’s going to be the average guy like you, and your children. So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back so we, so you can all live in peace.”Witnesses said that the men used a car to run over the soldier just yards from the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, south-east London, before setting about him with knives and a meat cleaver as if they were “trying to remove organs”. I was an still am in a state of shock after hearing the news. I believe the responsibility for this soldiers death lies firmly with subsequent Governments who have allowed mass immigration to our shores. Also allowed many hate preachers onto our soil to radicalise many muslims. The sad truth is `nothing` will happen, we will hear the usual stay calm from our useless politicians and horrific things like this will enevitable happen again, if not even worse. I believe its about time ALL British police officers are armed. It took twenty minutes for an armed response unit to arrive at the scene, ordinary uniformed officers could do nothing but close roads and observe from a distance for fear of being attacked. In cities like New York there are armed police officers on every street corner. I believe if an incident happened like this in New York the chances are good that the attackers would have been shot dead possibly before they fatal injured the victim. Also all of our Forces should continue to wear their uniforms in public, if not the terrorists have won. My heart goes out to the colleagus and the family of the deceased, R.I.P

A woman medic has become the first female front-line British soldier known to have killed an enemy fighter in combat.
Chantelle Taylor has described the terrifying moment when – as a sergeant in the Royal Army Medical Corps – she had to choose whether to shoot a Taliban gunman or be  shot herself. She says: ‘Faced with the choice of him or me, I chose me.’
It was the first time the 32-year-old medic, who was sent to the war zone to save lives, had fired her standard issue SA80 assault rifle at another person.
Female soldiers in the British Army are officially not allowed to fight on the front line in battle and are banned from serving in infantry units whose job is to ‘close with and kill’ the enemy. The group is listening intently. They all know the importance of what is being said, if they are to stand any chance of surviving a blast in Helmand province. It is early 2008 and I have been selected to oversee haemorrhage-control training for 16 Air Assault Brigade before its deployment to southern Afghanistan. This means making sure that guys on the ground know how to stop bleeding.
It doesn’t take long before I notice my own Squadron Sergeant Major chuckling to himself. Suddenly the penny drops and I recognise one seemingly familiar face in the group. As my talk finishes, this now very familiar guest approaches me and I don’t know whether to salute him or curtsy. I can feel the burn of my reddening cheeks. A 19-year-old soldier has died after being shot during an exercise at a Ministry of Defence training ground in Kent.The male soldier has not been named but his next of kin have been informed.
