Hands off, Argies! These'll soon be the richest islands on Earth.

Flying low in a light aircraft over East Falkland, you can still see the shell holes and craters pock-marking the landscape around Mount Tumbledown, scene of some of the most brutal fighting in the war of 1982.
The battle scars may have become a part of the landscape, but for many islanders the conflict remains as real as though it were yesterday.

Anyone that knows me will know how I feel about Argentina and the Falklands. I truly hope that they do indeed become the richest Islands in the world, perhaps they might even give us the UK some overseas aid, but I don't find headlines like this very helpful. I don't think Argentina has the stomach for another full scale War, but I wouldn't rule out terrorist type attacks on our oil and gas industry. We all know who fights and dies in War and its not the journalists at newspapers like the Daily Mail.

Falklands’ oil companies banned 20 years from operating in Argentina by Cristina Fernandez

Four London AIM listed oil companies carrying out exploration work in Falkland Islands waters have been barred from operating in Argentina. The measure affects Borders & Southern Petroleum, Desire Petroleum, Argos Resources and Falkland Oil and Gas.All four are prohibited from working in Argentina for 20 years due to their unauthorized and clandestine exploration activity “in areas near the Malvinas Islands” the Argentine government said in a statement posted Friday on its Web site.The decision which includes four resolutions (456/2013; 457/2013/ 458/2013 and 459/2013 from the Energy Secretary) states the four companies violated Argentine law governing oil exploration and production by carrying out activities in that offshore sector without the government's permission.
Argentine authorities said the oil firms were operating under an “illegitimate license to explore for oil and gas in areas near the Malvinas that was granted by the illegitimate government that controls those Islands.” Read More HERE

So David Cameron finally gets the War he has craved since taking office. It wasn’t that long ago that Dave was playing down Britain’s role on the world stage and calling us the `Junior Partner` to the USA, but it seems Dave was the main instigator in this no fly zone. We are all lead to believe that we are broke as a country and our military has to suffer enormous cuts , but it seems we can still wage an air and possibly ground War with Libya? There are brutal dictatorships all around the world Robert Mugabe being one tyrant to mention who has systematically ethnically cleansed most white farmers and murdered his political opponents. But no we don’t see British military involvement there do we. Why is this conflict different? One word OIL. Britain doesn’t give a stuff about the ordinary people of Libya but it does care about who controls the oil. I would suggest that the British Government has already done a deal with the Rebels about life in Libya post Kadhafi and the US jumped on board at the eleventh hour so as not to miss out on the spoils of War. So don’t kid yourself when the British media uses the `Lockerbie Revenge` angle to garner public support for another folly in the middle east, it wasn’t that long ago that the Scots with the nod from the British Government released the alleged terrorist Abdelbaset al-Megrahi for what reason? Yes once again oil drilling rights in Libya. So in the coming weeks ahead if you see a British RAF pilot shot down and captured and dragged through the streets of Tripoli remember its not about human rights its about political power and oil.
