Extra £80 million for new Armed Forces' accommodation
Thousands more members of the Armed Forces will benefit from the best quality accommodation Defence Secretary Des Browne said today, Tuesday 25 September 2007, as he announced additional funding for Project SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernisation).
The MOD has allocated an extra £80 million, an increase of over 20 per cent to the £350 million SLAM Phase 2 project to improve single living accommodation. This increases funding on all phases of the SLAM programme to around £1.4 billion and will allow a further 1,350 new en-suite bed spaces to be built.
(RG) About time too, the Government needs to recruit more servicemen & woman and giving them a decent standard of living is very important instead of treating them like second class refugees, what’s £80 million anyway to New Labour probably Gordon Browns Annual food bill judging by his waist line, now the slug Prescott has been axed there should be enough spare cash to build five star luxury accommodation.Read It Here
