Soldier from the Mercian Regiment dies from wounds sustained in Afghanistan





It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce that a soldier from 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment died from wounds sustained in Afghanistan in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham on Monday 5 July 2010. The soldier, who had been in Afghanistan serving as part of Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (North), was wounded in an explosion whilst on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province on Sunday 4 July.
