Bizarrely whilst in Germany with 12 Regt RA I drove one of these ferrets to the NAAFI for a pie run, I have no idea why we had them as I cannot recall using them on exercise. I remember you had to put it in gear first and then put your clutch in which took a bit of getting used to.I remember one day being asked by an NCO if I had serviced it, I looked at him and shook my head and said “It ran ok when I took it to the NAAFI “ That was the height of the cold war, happy days and the Growlers as we called the pies were pretty good as well.
