Veterans Day 2008

From The Royal Artillery Regimental Family Newsletter June 2008

Veterans Day 2008 is being held on 27th June. The main event is taking place in Blackpool, but there are also many events being developed round the country. I would encourage you to visit the MOD’s new Veterans Day website Veterans Day and in particular the short advertisement that you can link to your own website. On the website are suggestions for events and how to seek funding from the MOD Veterans Policy Unit. Don’t delay as funds are limited. Contact details of those who can advise are also on the website. In London the Mayor has agreed that Trafalgar Square will provide the venue for an annual event, starting this year. As I distribute this newsletter details are sketchy, but it is anticipated there will be a stage and covered areas for individual organisation stands. Already COSBEO members have indicated they will join us. Please get in touch with The Secretary COBSEO Sec.cobseo@btconnect.com as soon as possible if you wish to set up a stand or even contribute to the staged events. As part of the recognition of veterans the Prime Minister is hosting a Veterans Badge ceremony on 26th June 2008 at No 10 Downing Street. If you have a member or know somebody who is about to receive their Veterans Badge he or she might like to have it presented on this occasion? If so please email Sec.cobseo@btconnect.com.
