A British soldier has been killed by a mine explosion in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.

(RG) It seems at the moment its every day one of our brave servicemen is killed in action. The Taliban know they have achieved lots of success with this type of weapon and will continue to use it. We must strive to provide better armour and anti mine counter measures for our forces.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
