'We need more troops to beat the Taliban'

Blunt: General David Richards says Nato members need to put "more military effort" into Afghanistan

The Commander of Nato forces in Afghanistan today warned that more troops and resources were needed to beat the Taliban. Well the soldiers already in the field are struggling to cope at the moment. In Dispatches on Channel 4 a feeelance cameraman was in Afghanistan, he was not welcomed by the MOD as they obviously didnt want him reporting the truth about the dire situation on the ground. Never mind a troop surge an ammo surge , body armour surge, food surge and a clear mission would be welcome.

The assault is expected to take 24 hours but it soon runs into difficulty, leading to six days of relentless attacks and counter attacks, captured from start to finish by Langan. The front line was often less than 100 yards from the compound where the 17 British troopers established their forward base and the ferocity of fighting saw the British officers call in a record number of NATO air strikes.
