General Erhard Raus and his Panzer Divisions in Russia, 1941-1945
First published back in 2002, this is a new paperback edition from Frontline Books of this fascinating title, edited by Peter Tsouras. It is intereesting on a number of counts, not only for the events it tells us about, but it is actually a series of writings from a retired German General, put together in the early 1950s as information pamphlets for the US Army. These were the actions and the lessons learnt while fighting the Russians, put together by a very successful, if not well known, General. In the early 1950's, this was the potential enemy for the US Army stationed in Germany, who had the Russian Guards Army just a short distance away from them and they weree eager to learn. Looking back, we now know that the feared conflict of the 'Cold War' never happened but they were keen to have as much intelligence on their opponent as they could. Read more HERE
