A soldier who was burnt so severely in a Taliban ambush that he “died” three times has been awarded less than £100,000 in compensation.
Martyn Compton, 24, from Staplehurst, Kent, was trapped in his burning body armour when he was set alight in an armoured vehicle in southern Afghanistan. His heart stopped three times and he lost his ears and nose.
