Remembering the Diggers who never came home from Afghanistan

As Australia winds-up its longest ever war in Afghanistan, the families of fallen soldiers speak of letters from beyond the grave and collective relief in the operation's closure.Matthew Lambert was an instinctive comic, forever organising pranks, dressing up for a laugh and if the dangers of his job came up, he'd only joke about them.
A 26-year-old soldier, ''Matty'', as his mates knew him, was seeing Afghanistan for the first time.
Emails sent to his childhood friend, Kaan Whittall, began with the usual banter.Read more HERE

"Honi soit qui mal y pense" loosely means: "Shamed be he who thinks evil of it." It's also the title of an amazing short film produced and directed by Australian Tom Abood. The film came third at #Tropfest last week and (in our opinion) is a poignant reminder of what we have, what we take for granted and what our Aussie soldiers go through.

Afghanistan: Aussie Gunners Due to Leave British Unit

Fifteen gunners from the Brisbane-based unit, the 1st Field Regiment, have got three weeks left to serve in Lashkar Gah Durai, in northern Helmand Province. The Australian team have been attached to the British 7th Parachute, Royal Horse Artillery (7 Para RHA) in a multi-national operation. Read More HERE
