VC Winner Condemns Care of Soldiers Even being awarded medals like the VC wont stop you falling victim to PTSD. The MOD might try to put a band aid on and open wound whilst still serving, but once you leave the military you are at the mercy of the NHS and I know all to well what that entails. This is my experience `here` and also `here` where my experiences almost drove me to suicide after being asked about `rape dungeons` in Austria. It is only my daily contact with a fellow Falklands veteran and PTSD sufferer that keeps me going and not wanting to leave my children prematurely. I complained about the interrogation I suffered at the hands of the War Pensions doctor who when I asked him had no idea of the number of Falkland veterans that have taken their lives since 1982,300+ including a friend of mine that served on my Rapier missile system Mickey What’s hurtful is I still receive hate mail from so called soldiers that dismiss PTSD because they have no idea what it is. As angry as I am when I read those e-mails I wouldn’t wish my condition upon them.
