RAF marks 90th with huge parade for the Queen










The Royal Air Force marked its 90th anniversary in style on Friday 11 July 2008, with its biggest-ever parade and flypast for the presentation of new Queen's Colours. Months of dedicated preparation and weeks of drill for around 800 personnel fell into place for the presentation, made by Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, held at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire.

(RG) Many residents of Peterborough were worried that these RAF personnel were going to march through the town, Des Browne assured the people of Peterborough when he said Rest assured these RAF personnel will never march along the streets of Peterborough as long as there is a Labour Government, I would like to apologise for any distress that this rumour has caused.”
