BARROW IN A CLASS OF ITS OWN?
FURNESS MP John Hutton has joined a campaign to have a submarine class named after Barrow and its world famous shipyard.
If Lancaster has its bombers and Waberthwaite its sausages, then Barrow should have its eponymous submarine class, says the man being tipped as the next Defence Minister.Read It Here
(RG) Being a defence related issue and about my home town I thought I would Blog this campaign to have a submarine class named after the town of Barrow
I fully support this idea, it would honour the thousands of men and woman who have worked in the shipyard now BAE from WW1 up to the present date in the defence of their country. As for John Hutton becoming the next defence minister I did not realise that he was moving over to the Conservative party?

I worked at VSEL in Barrow many years ago (thats what shipyard back then). I'd support this cause. I'm shocked though. Its not often I agree with a Labour politician ;-)
ReplyDeleteIts that time of the year when they need votes!
ReplyDeleteIt's way past time Barrow & its people are recognised for the part they've played in defending the nation.
ReplyDeleteI'll give my local yes-man, sorry, MP a nudge in the right direction.
