While Lord Justice Scott Baker officiates each week at the Diana inquest benefit gala for tabloid lawyers at the Royal Courts of Justice, a more poignant inquest is enacted in the leafy lanes of Oxfordshire. The bodies of servicemen killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are brought here to Brize Norton airbase and their families are consoled with the brief dignity of an “unlawful killing” verdict. Read It Here
(RG) We very nearly lost the Falklands War through our ships being hit and sunk and for the incompetence of the Then Defence secretary Sir Jon Nott we would not have had a navy in the first place. We do need an up to date up to strength Navy but that cannot be at the expense of the Army. In my world our Armed Forces would not want for anything and would be able to walk along British streets with their heads held high. But this Socialist Government baulks every time the MOD puts out its hand for cash. The ironic thing is we do have the cash to spend but Brooon would rather give it away. Once the British public and especially Military commanders realise that this Government has and inbred institutional hatred of our armed forces then the whole idea of defence spending or non spending is more easily understood. But then the Labour voters from my home town of Barrow-in-Furness wont care if they get a slice of the pie when they help build the aircraft carriers. Ask most of them why they vote Labour they will tell you coz their Dad and Granddad did!
