'The MoD would rather let Ben Parkinson die than pay for him to recover': Mother of hero soldier claims his own resolve - and not 'careless' Government - helped him to walk again

Inspirational paratrooper Ben Parkinson, 27, is the most injured British servicemen to have survived after he lost both his limbs and broke his back, hips and ribs when his Land Rover hit a mine in Afghanistan in 2006.
Doctors believed he wouldn't be able to recover from such serious wounds - 37 in total - but thanks to his sheer determination Ben has proved them all wrong with his amazing progress.
But his mother Diane Dernie, who refused to give up on him, today reveals how she faced an up-hill battle to get Ben the help he needed from the MoD to aid his path to recovery. Read more HERE

Ben Parkinson is a inspiration to all of us able bodied or disabled, these words are from his Mothers mouth, she knows more than anyone what Ben has gone through and will have to go through for the rest of his life, the love for her son was stronger than the Doctors  who thought he wouldn't survive, thank you Diane you have raised a true British Hero. Heroes like Ben should not have to rely on Charities, the Government send our young men and woman into harms way and they have an obligation to look after them come what may, sadly there will be a  few more Ben Parkinson’s before our eventual pull out of Afghanistan.Merry Christmas Ben.
