I received an e-mail from an ex member of my old Regiment with a link about a new book. I checked it out and it seemed a good read and would be of interest to many ex British soldiers particularly Northern Ireland veterans. As I have a Blog that is read by people with an interest in things military I said I would give the book a write up and place a permanent link in my side bar where you can order. I know this works as I have sold copies of Watching Men Burn in this way. Its obviously not Amazon but it is free. All I asked in return was a copy of the book when it is published which I normally find with authors is standard practise? This was his reply…….
"Typical Irish Cumbrian (not that I know many !!!) and not giving me a straight answer.
Make a deal with you.If you can get me 6 confirmed sales from the site, you can have a signed copy for half-price (£12-50) which is the price I pay the publisher. For 10 confirmed sales, your copy will be free. Whichever way, I will be honoured to sign it for you. That sound ok ? "
(RG) Lets just say I declined his offer and wish him all the best with finding free publicity for his book.

All the best to you as well.
ReplyDeleteSince he has no experience in publishing it could be he will end up giving copies of his book to libraries so it will get circulation and not just recycling, in the end it will stand on its merit and content. I have just purchased three Iraq war books, now to find the time to read them.
