A heartbroken boy proudly wears his fallen big brother’s Parachute Regiment beret – moving dozens of parade onlookers to tears yesterday. Six-year-old Fin Wakefield idolised Private Jeff Doherty, who was one of 15 members of 2 Para Battle Group to die in Afghanistan this summer. (RG) Its not to Glorify War when I attend Remembrance Sunday as some misguided left wing peace activists have suggested it is to honour the sacrifice of Britain’s Heroes like Private Jeff Doherty of the Parachute Regiment who was trying to make the world a safer place for his little brother Fin.
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
Britain mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
