Ex-Army Officer Is No Fry Tipper

A war hero landed an £80 fine for allegedly dropping a CHIP in a McDonald’s car park. Ex-Army officer Ian Tomlinson, 43, was enjoying lunch in his car when a Police Community Support Officer marched up.
She ordered him out of the vehicle while she ran a criminal records check. Then she wrote out a fixed penalty notice for depositing “litter (french fry)”.

(RG) I wonder if this plastic wannabe cop would have confronted this man if he was from an Ethnic background? I am all for prosecuting litter bugs but this is ridiculous I mean even if he did drop a chip it surely would have been eaten by a stray dog cat or pigeon? These toy cops would better served
actually trying to combat crime. Another case of laughing stock Britain, VOTE LABOUR!

  1. Had to laugh when I clicked on the link to MoD News for this story - amongst the ads "Become an RAF Officer" and "Military Records Search", was another for "Want to become a PCSO?" Was this deliberate, or just the luck of the draw? LOL

  2. Hopefully Ian Tomlinson may read this but also for the information of anyone who finds themselves at the "mercy" of a Plastic Plod in similar circumstances. As far as I am aware, a McDonalds car park is owned by McDonalds and is therefore private property (if in doubt ask the 3CPO if the car park is repaired at public or private expense. If he says private, explain there is therefore no offence for him to be concerned with. If he doesn't know, suggest he may wish to investigate further and then come back - telling him you'll wait a reasonable period of time for him - there's nothing a CSO likes less than someone who is more knowledgeable about the law than he/she is). There is no offence of litter on private property that can be dealt with by Plastic Plods or anyone else not employed by McDonalds. If the PP insists, then explain that you will not give him your details but are willing to discuss the matter further with his supervisor or any other competent person (they hate that last bit). In ALL cases, refuse to accept the FPN and request to be issued with a summons. A little bit of investigation on the internet will provide an acceptable defence in court, after which you claim a shedload of expenses (ask for the money to be paid by the Force and not from central funds as this digs into the Force's budget.
I am a retired Police officer and have my own views about the recruitment, employment, training and use of PCSOs.
