ROYAL NAVY VS THE ARMY CENTENARY CRICKET MATCH

KEY POINTS

· In order to celebrate this centenary, the MCC has kindly allowed a one-off Royal Navy vs The Army cricket match to be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Tuesday 29 July 2008.
· Tickets for the match (£10 adults, £5 OAP/U16) are available in advance (details below) or on the gate.
· The match is being kindly supported by a number of companies, with the major sponsor being EDF Energy.
· The event will also be supporting the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity who will be collecting at the ground and will receive 50% of programme sales.
· The match is open to members of the public and it is hoped that as many as possible will attend to support both the match and the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.
· Gates open at 10am for an 11am start and the game is expected to finish by 6.30pm.

BACKGROUND
1. 2008 marks the centenary of the first competitive cricket match between the Royal Navy and The Army, to be played at Lord’s in 1908.
2. In addition to the cricket, entertainment will be provided by the Red Devils Parachute Display Team and the Minden Band of the Queen's Division. The usual bars, restaurants and food stands will be open for business throughout the day.
3. Please note that tickets are not seat-specific and that they are not refundable in case of inclement weather. MCC members can introduce four guests into the Pavilion, rather than the normal one.
