Operation Chakush gets underway
Welsh soldiers have been involved in a task force level operation to drive the Taliban out of the Upper Gereshk Valley, in Southern Afghanistan. Known as the ‘green zone’ in Helmand Province – the area is devoid of civilians, they have left the area knowing that the Taliban fighters are preparing for battle.
Thirty soldiers from B Company, 1st Battalion the Royal Welsh (Royal Welch Fusiliers 23rd Foot), as part of operation Chakush, had the difficult job of seizing a village held by the Taliban.Read It Here
