Afghan Army's rapid motorisation

The Afghan National Army (ANA) is going through a massive programme of motorisation as they begin to field thousands of up-armoured HMMWVs and Mobile Strike Force Vehicles (MSFVs).Speaking at the International Armoured Vehicles conference, Gen Sher Mohammad Karimi, chief of general staff of the ANA, told delegates that the ANA was ‘largely a light infantry force’ and that more armoured vehicles were required to maintain security.
