. ''The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war,no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional as to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation'' --George Washington--

Give thanks he is a British soldier
They come from England Ulster Scotland and Wales
Stand proud and tall and hard as nails
From the dole and pubs and some from Jails
Now one as a British soldier
Saddam Hussein or Taliban
It matters not they know they can
From Basra city to Afghanistan
They fight as a British soldier
There not political they just do their job
From bullets and bricks from an angry mob
When a comrade is shot
We will comfort your sob
We are one as a British soldier
If you see a soldier in your street today
Don’t walk on by or look the other way
Just shake his hand and make his day
Give thanks he is a British soldier.
