Royal Marine who jumped on grenade awarded George Cross
A Royal Marine is to receive the highest award for gallantry after jumping on a hand grenade to save the lives of three of his comrades. Read It here
(RG) Incredible bravery, I guess he would have had to die to receive the VC? This is one Royal marine that should never have to buy a drink again.

GC is the equivalent of a VC. It is not some sort of 2nd class Civvy alternative. Only difference is that enemy were not physically present at the time the grenade went off.
ReplyDeleteHe's a brave lad. GC is a fitting award. Though I suspect had he been given a wheelbarrow to carry his bollocks about in it would be of more practical use.
An award deserved, and some!!. A very brave individual, but to us who served a good fuckin mate, one every squaddie wants next to him. I echo the thoughts of RG when i repeat this man should never have to but a drink again, ever. Well donr but im sure he will just say he was doing his job.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless em all.

I did not say that the GC was `some sort of 2nd class Civvy alternative` anon, thank you for describing the difference and why the GC was awarded.
