Falklands War 2?

BUENOS AIRES (AFP) - Argentina's claim to the Falkland Islands, which remain in British hands after the 1982 war between the two countries, is "inalienable," President Cristina Kirchner said Wednesday.

(RG) They probably think wrongly that the UK are stretched to far with Iraq & Afghanistan, but rest assured Broon will not allow HIS oil money go without a fight. It would have nothing to do with sovereignty or Britishness and he would readily sacrifice our men & woman for the Treasury. He cares nothing about the Islanders and conciders the Falklands War Maggie Thatchers finest hour.

  1. No chance of conflic there. This goverment of former memebers of former communist and marxist organizations could never ask the Argentine army to sacrifice for them, plus the people would never support it. It is just populism against the UK, something that these marxist always like.
In fact in that public act that you reference in the post the memebers of families of those who fell during the war where not even allowed to be present, because it was not to her liking.

  3. I wholehartedly agree, unfortunately those in power today have no respect for them. Most of those in the military that fought in the War have now resigned or been expelled for expressing their dissent with the current government.

During the 90s Argentina worked very hard to mend the relationship with Britain and with the islands. All this hard work has now been destroyed by this populist government. Clearly not the best way to start a new era. After all, yes we Argentines believe the islands to be ours historically, but by now and for generations the people living there are British. What would happen if every country would invade territories that at some point in the past belonged to them despite what the people living there believe.
Isn't it better just to aim to improve relationships between people in those isles and their closest neighbors ?
Then again, soldiers are the ones that understand how terrible war is but it is easy for polititians to use false nationalism as a political tool.

Congrats on your very interesting blog.

    regards,
    Andres
