Convoy attackers kill UK soldier

A British soldier Corporal Jeremy Brookes has died after the convoy he was travelling in came under attack in southern Iraq.
The soldier's vehicle had been part of a resupply convoy in the Al-Tuwaysa district of central Basra, the Ministry of Defence said.
He was taken to the Basra Palace UK base, but died of injuries sustained in the small arms fire attack.
In a separate attack on the same convoy a civilian driver, who was not British, died when a fuel tanker caught fire.

  1. Just another statistic! Who, for God's sake, will rescue us from these infernal politicians.
It used to be bad enough trying to fight with one hand tied behind your back, but these lads are not even fighting! The mess in Iraq is a political mess and needs to be sorted out by politicians. Our Forces have done the fighting - this now is not their job.

  3. I totally agree with you, when I was a soldier serving in Northern Ireland you were at risk of attack obviously from the Nationalist Catholic community. In the Loyalist Protestant areas you were relatively safe. In Iraq it seems everybody wants to kill our forces. Think of the bloodshed and wasted lives in Northern Ireland and how long it has gone on. How long must our military presence be in Iraq? A military solution is not achievable. I agree we could not just cut and run immediately honest we and the US have created this mess in the first place. You can send a million more troops to Iraq but that doesn’t mean they will greet you with open arms. Blair should be exiled to Iraq and made to live in fear like most of the population.
