Soldier from 1st Battalion The Rifles killed in Afghanistan

It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce that a soldier from 1st Battalion The Rifles was killed in Afghanistan today, Monday 18 July 2011. The soldier was killed while on an operation in the Nahr-e Saraj (South) district of Helmand province to recover a cache of improvised explosive device components that had been discovered the previous evening.
