As I was borne in Barrow-in-Furness and like her a veteran of the Falklands War I would like to help with 'Bring HMS Invincible Home' campaign website At this present time, Invincible is placed into a low state of readiness at Portsmouth Naval Base. During her 25 years with the Royal Navy, the ship has visited many different Countries, and many ports in the UK. Not once, has our ship returned to Barrow-in-Furness for a visit. We are currently in collaboration with the MOD in a bid to bring Invincible home for a visit, so that people can take a look around this fine vessel and see the great craftsmanship of the people of Barrow-in-Furness. After countless letters from the MOD, the fight must go on to bring our ship home. In her last week of service at the end of July 2005, HMS Invincible visited Tyne Side, and people were given an open day to take a look around her. I travelled to North Shields on the 26th July 2005 and was taken on board the Carrier. It was a real shame that after 25 years of service with the Royal Navy the people of Barrow-in-Furness never got to celebrate the end of her career. It is therefore important, that somehow we can have a visit from our Ship once again, and people from all over should come and visit the Invincible in her home town.
