Veterans to mark Armistice Day
Three of the last surviving British veterans of the First World War will mark the 90th anniversary of the day peace returned to Europe. Health permitting, the men - all well into their 100s - will attend a service at the Cenotaph in central London to commemorate Armistice Day.
Henry Allingham, 112, Harry Patch, 110 and Bill Stone, 108, will lead a two-minute silence as the nation remembers the sacrifices made by the 1914-1918 generation.Read It Here
(RG) I salute Henry Allingham, Harry Patch, and Bill Stone, what an amazing journey they have been through. I just wish that after their service and the sacrifice their colleagues made in the tens of thousands society could have given them a better place to live out their lives. I wonder what the UK will be like when we only have one more living Second World War veteran or Falklands Veteran?
