Fridays Fire Mission (Kilo) Two British soldiers die in Afghanistan

A further two British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan. They died in an explosion in north Helmand as the Afghan people went to the polls, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. But the troops, one from the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment and the second from the 2nd Battalion The Rifles, were on a patrol unconnected to election security. Their next of kin have been informed. RIP.

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
Britain mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Afghan victims' bodies returned to UK Another extremely sad day for Britain, RIP.

Ex-UK Special Forces commander to work on reconciliation with Taliban I can see why General David Petraeus would want British involvement in a program of reconciliation with members of the Taliban. The British Government have a track record of appeasing terrorists and putting them in power, some of these Former Taliban Commanders could well find themselves in a new Career as a Labour MP.

'Inglourious Basterds' Premiere One to watch, I wonder what film producers will be making in 60 years about our current involvement in Afghanistan?

No more Euro fighters for RAF, despite 232-jet pact Oh dear it seems the RAF cupboard is bare! Vote Labour!

General Sir Richard Dannatt is “absolutely unrepentant” about demanding better equipment for British forces His conscience is clear unlike his Political masters!

Marine's compensation appeal is adjourned Best of luck to Ben McBean , you deserve every penny and then some.

Marine Engineers Construct Major Fortifications in Helmand's Hostile Territory KOSHTAY, Garmsir District, Helmand Province, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan – The mission for Marines here is to seize ground controlled by Taliban insurgents, hold that ground and build on it. Building in this case means fortifying their exposed position on the very front lines of this conflict. However, Marine infantrymen are not known for their carpentry and construction skills. That responsibility falls on the engineers.

Top British Commander In Afghan Speaks I afraid the stark truth is if your concerned about minimising civilian casualties, then don’t go to War in the first place.
