Gurkhas Fight to Live in Britain







Gyanendra Rai gazes at the smoke as it curls upwards from the funeral pyre and thins out over the rooftops of Pashuputi Nath, the world's most sacred Hindu temple.
Rai thought of this place when artillery shrapnel chewed into the side of his back and right shoulder while he was fighting for the British army in the Falkland Islands: he imagined his body lying there on the cremation ghat.

(RG) Britain may be the most overcrowded country in Europe, but if we are going to continue to let anyone from anywhere in it is only right that these brave soldiers who have fought so bravely and loyally over the years are allowed entrance. I would be honoured and privileged to live amongst them. Gyanedra Rai is my brother in arms we both fought together in the Falklands so why should the colour of his skin or where he was borne make him any different from myself? Lets hope a future Conservative Government will change this racist law and do the right thing?
